One touch=big impact.
As Americans geared up for the eclipse of the century, Nest had a story to tell that didn’t have anything to do with where to view it or how not to go blind. Swift stepped in to shed light on the the blackout’s impact on solar energy and what Nest owners could do about it.
Our “Solar Eclipse Rush Hour” campaign rallied Nest Thermostat users to reduce reliance on inefficient power sources such as coal, oil and natural gas with just one touch. More than 750,000 Nest owners opted in to automatically cool their homes before the eclipse, saving the equivalent power of 415 AA batteries per household. Combined, they reduced energy drain on the grid by 700 MW, the same amount of energy produced by seven gas power plants.
